Winning over Worrying
by Rev. Lauder
“Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? 26 Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? 27 Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life? 28 “And why do you worry about clothes? See how the flowers of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. 29 Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. 30 If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you—you of little faith? 31 So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ 32 For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. 33 But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. 34 Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own. Matthew 6:25-34
Just because Jesus is on our side does not mean you will not have to deal with Worrying. The good news is Jesus knows all about our struggles. No matter what you go through you can still win over worrying.
Worry will try and take over you, but God will allow you to overtake worry.
If you want to win over worry you must first “comply” with the command. Jesus has already told us to never worry about food, life and water. If God had enough power to make you doesn’t it make sense that he can and will sustain you? If God feeds the bird how much more would he be able to feed you. For the grace of God gives you what you wasn’t even looking for. God’s grace is sufficient.
Stop looking at the size of the substance. We should be saying anyway you bless me Lord I’ll be satisfied. God will take care of you!
Jesus made the birds but he died for you.
There are boundaries in life, we find ourselves worrying about things we can’t change. Stay in your lane, God has this. A lot of us can’t thank God for what we have because we are not recognizing you have everything you need.
We all have circumstances that say we “ain’t” gone make it, but our owners manual tells us we will. We must prioritize over worrying. When we worry we are acting out of character. Put God as your first priority. Your happiness cannot be tied up on your stuff. There is a difference between happiness and joy. Joy comes from Christ and happiness tends to come from what is happening right now…circumstantial. Weeping may come in the night but Joy comes in the morning.
We must seek God first and all of your needs will be met. To win over worry we must learn how to face your future. Take life one day at a time. We find ourselves worrying so much about tomorrow’s bread that we allow today’s bread to spoil and miss the blessing of today. Tomorrow may hold the unknown, but we know who holds our hand. Keep your hand in God’s hand.
